A Boomer couple went out for breakfast one morning and sat down at a cozy little diner that had a big sign in the window:
“Seniors’ Special: two eggs, bacon, hash browns, and toast — only $2.99.”
The wife smiled at the menu. “That sounds perfect,” she told the waiter. “But I don’t want the eggs.”
The waiter looked down at his pad and frowned. “Ma’am, if you don’t take the eggs, then it’s not the Seniors’ Special anymore. That would be à la carte.”
She raised an eyebrow. “And how much would that be?”
“$3.49,” he said.
She stared at him. “So let me understand this… if I take less food, I pay more money?”
The waiter shrugged. “That’s the policy.”
Her husband slowly lowered his coffee cup, already knowing that look on her face.
The wife sat back, thought for a second, then smiled sweetly.
“Fine,” she said. “I’ll take the Seniors’ Special.”
“Excellent,” said the waiter. “And how would you like your eggs?”
Without even blinking, she replied, “Raw. In the shell.”
The waiter froze.
Her husband grinned.
She took the two eggs home, baked a cake that afternoon, and served it with coffee.
Moral of the story?
Don’t mess with seniors. They’ve been around the block, read the fine print, and still know how to get dessert out of a breakfast deal.
